Army Chaplain Celebrates Ten Years on the Web With New Book About Digital Evangelism
About ten years ago, before television commercials were promoting web addresses, before PDAs or browser-capable cell phones, when AOL was boasting of doubling its membership to two million subscribers, the Mosaic web browser (made more popular by Netscape), and the World Wide Web for which it was invented, had gained enough recognition to cause a flurry of publicity and incite millions world-wide to investigate this amazing new technology. The World Wide Web was only just becoming the international phenomenon it is today.
Rev. Michael L. White, a Christian pastor of a small congregation during that time in 1995, was one of those millions who saw the tremendous potential of the World Wide Web. Prompted by his enthusiasm for this grand new medium, he was instrumental in creating a web site for his local church and denominational conference, as well as for himself and a few other area churches, before it was the “hip” thing to do. Now, Rev. White serves as a U. S. Army chaplain at Ft. Benning, Georgia, and has just published a new book about digital evangelism in which he explains how anyone can share the Christian faith using a personal computer and an Internet connection.
Digital Evangelism: You Can Do It, Too! is an exciting book showing at least 14 ways individuals and Christian organizations alike can use both their computers and the Internet to share with the whole world all they’re doing to promote the Christian faith. In this book, Rev. White explores seven ways for Christian ministries to raise visibility in the community and seven ways to help make particular ministries an international household name. He also discusses how to reach the technologically competent and how to get the “technologically challenged” to flock to you for guidance.
